Il nome di questa vettura deriva dalla sua spettacolare
presentazione ufficiale in Piazza San Marco a Venezia nel settembre
1963, dove la vettura fu trasportata con un barcone attrezzato.
Questa vettura, costruita con il sistema Superleggera, presenta
molti degli stilemi caratteristici della Carrozzeria Touring. Carlo
Felice Bianchi Anderloni la chiamò la “sua Cenerentola”, forse a
causa dello stentato successo iniziale e per il brusco arresto della
produzione alla fine del 1964 a causa del tracollo del Gruppo
Inglesse Roots, proprietario dei marchi Sunbeam, Hillman e Humber.
Tracollo che causò la crisi finanziaria della Carrozzeria Touring.

This car owes its name to
its spectacular presentation: in September 1963, it made a grand
entrance in St. Mark’s Square, in the heart of Venice, on a special
barge. Built with the Superleggera system, the Venezia features many
of Carrozzeria Touring’s signature stylistic elements. Carlo Felice
Bianchi Anderloni called it his “Cinderella”, probably due to its
initially cold reception and sudden production halt at the end of
1964 after the financial collapse of Root Group, the English owner
of Sunbeam, Hillman and Humber. A collapse which was also at the
origin of Carrozzeria Touring’s crisis.
